Inter Piece Together Contract Bid for Seasoned Napoli Campaigner

Inter have identified long-serving Napoli stalwart Piotr Zielinski as an ideal candidate to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s midfield department. According to TMWNerazzurri are keen to exploit the Poland international’s contractual wobble in southern Italy to snap him up on a free transfer.

Napoli fought tooth and nail to keep hold of Zielinski in the summer. Despite being approached by several foreign European clubs and wealthy Saudi Pro League outfits, Aurelio De Laurentiis fended off interested parties. But Zielinski’s deal expires at the end of the season, with Inter drawing up a contract offer for the 29-year-old.

Zielinski remains a significant part of Walter Mazzarri’s set-up. Napoli are hellbent on extending his stay at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Yet, stalled negotiations seem destined to fail. Well-versed in taking advantage of such situations, Inter lurk in the shadows, readying a bid to tempt the Pole to cut ties with the reigning Serie A champions.

Inter endeavor to sign a pre-contract agreement with the versatile midfielder in January. Zielinski earns around €3 million a year at Napoli, while Inzaghi’s men are reportedly ready to hand him a substantial wage boost. They hope to convince him to ditch Partenopei with a €4.5m-a-year package.

Considering Zielinski’s vast Serie A experience and tactical flexibility, it’s barely a surprise that Inter have set their sights on him. Capable of covering a multitude of positions in the engine room, the former Empoli star would be a decent cup for the title-bidding giants.
