Inter Mulling Options as They Plan to Revamp the Left Flank

Ivan Perisic has proven over the last two months that he can be effective as wing-back, winning over coach Antonio Conte. Even though he has a sizeable salary and just a year left on his contract, Inter are set to confirm him in that role next season, Calciomercato.com reports. However, they are looking to make some changes behind him on the left flank.

The deals of Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young are up in the summer and they are slated to leave for free. The Serbian defender joined last summer but has struggled as center-back and has rarely been used wide. The former Manchester United player has ceded the starting job is poised to head back to the Premier League. Dalbert will return from a loan spell at Rennes, but he will be on the move again.

The management intend to make an addition as alternative to Perisic. While Robin Gosens was a serious target in the past, the competition is fierce and Inter are unlikely to be big spenders this summer. This could also hurt their chase of Chelsea’s fullbacks Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, who are also on their radar.

The more feasible option is Federico Dimarco, who is enjoying a break-out season at Verona. The Scaligeri have a €6M option to acquire him, but the two sides have an excellent relationship. The player would like to return, so a deal could be sorted, maybe involving youngsters Eddie Salcedo and Lorenzo Pirola. The Inter product has posted 4 goals and 5 assists so far.
