Inter Planning Beyond Handanovic: Two Potential Replacements Named

Since his arrival in 2012, Samir Handanovic has been a true stalwart for Inter. The goalkeeper has offered a safe pair of hands for the club even throughout some of their darkest periods.

This season, the Slovenian has so far been deployed by his manager Antonio Conte in every single match for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, to the dismay of his frustrated deputy Andrei Radu.

Thus, the captain has made 32 Serie A appearances this term, in addition to six in the Champions League and four Coppa Italia starts.

Despite being generally reliable, Handa committed some blunders in the last few matches – against Napoli and Spezia – which prompted some observers to question whether or not the club should start searching for a replacement.

According to la Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Inter have identified two Serie A goalkeepers as potential replacements for Handanovic in the future.

The first on the list is Udinese’s Juan Musso, who is perceived as a natural successor for the Beneamata captain – as the Slovenian made the same move from Udine to Milano nine years ago.

Moreover, the 26-year-old could become a regular feature for the Argentine national team, and is expected to hit his prime within the next few years.

The Zebrette have reportedly set a price of 20 million euros for Musso’s services, and if Inter find this number to be excessive, then they will turn their attention towards another Serie A goalkeeper.

Hellas Verona’s Marco Silvestri has been a revelation for his side this season, putting up some incredible displays against the likes of Juventus and Milan among others.

The 30-year-old would be a cheaper alternative for Musso, especially when taking into account the fact that his contract with the Gialloblu will expire in the summer of 2022.
