Inter Player Ratings vs Napoli: Dzeko Derails Leaders Momentum

In what was the most anticipated matchup from a highly awaited day in Calcio, Inter hosted Napoli at the Giuseppe Meazza. While the Partenopei were hoping to restart their campaign from they had left off, it was the home side who deservedly prevailed in the big clash, with Edin Dzeko’s header separating the two sides. So let’s check out our player ratings for Inter who became the first team to beat Napoli in Serie A this season.

Inter (3-5-2)

André Onana – 6.5

The Cameroonian didn’t have much to do throughout the evening, but was always alert. Nonetheless, he was called into action in the dying minutes to pull off a wonderful reaction save on Giacomo Raspadori’s thunderous shot.

Milan Skriniar – 7.5

A superb display from the Slovakian defender who had kept Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as quiet as humanly possible. He also drove the play forward on some occasions with clever balls.

Francesco Acerbi – 6.5

The former Lazio man was given one or two scares by Victor Osimhen early in the match, but eventually regained his composure and had the better of the Napoli striker.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5

Perhaps it wasn’t the Italian’s most enthralling outing, but he was rarely troubled by the likes of Matteo Politano and Hirving Lozano.

Matteo Darmian – 6

To be fair to the former Man United wingback, he put up an industrious display, helping Skriniar in dealing with Kvara. That being said, he had to do much better with the goal at his mercy.

Nicolò Barella – 7.5

A simply fabulous display from the Euro 2020 winner who seems to be continuously improving his game. Displayed some breathtaking skills and neat touches, all while never neglecting his defensive duties.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 6.5

The former Milan man had a slow start but eventually grew with the match and controlled the middle of the park, which is never an easy task against the likes of Zambo Anguissa and Lobotka.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 7

The Armenian was one of the unsung heroes for Inter on the evening. Worked hard off the ball, but more importantly, initiated Dzeko’s goal by picking up Dimarco with an inch-perfect play.

Federico Dimarco – 7.5

Another solid display from the Italian who’s proving himself to be one of the best players in his position. Asserted his authority on the left flank and delivered a wonderful assist for Dezko’s winner.

Edin Dzeko – 7.5

A wonderful display from veteran striker who’s yet to show his age. Put Darmian through on goal with a deft touch, but eventually, he had to pull the trigger himself. He managed to escape Rrahmani’s marking to nod the ball home with an unstoppable header.

Romelu Lukaku – 6.5

The Belgian is gradually regaining his best physical shape, but the process could require additional weeks. Managed to escape Kim on a couple of occasions, with one almost leading to a goal from Darmian.

Substitutes

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5

The Guiesppe Meazza crowd greeted the world champion with a roaring ovation and he repaid them with an impressive cameo. Picked up Darmian with an exquisite play.

Robin Gosens – 6

The German continued what Dimarco had started on the left flank, causing more headaches for Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Joaquin Correa – 5.5

The Argentine didn’t see much of the ball after coming in, but at least it’s good to know that he’s fit once again.

Denzel Dumfries – 6

The Dutchman took one for the team by hauling down Raspadori to put an end to a promising Napoli counter attack. He evidently earned a booking for his naughty challenge, but was nonetheless applauded by the Inter supporters.

Roberto Gagliardini – N/A
