Inter Player Ratings vs Sassuolo: Unstoppable Lukaku Shines in Goal-Fest

At the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milano, Inter took full advantage of Milan’s defeat in Spezia to consolidate their Top-four spot with an entertaining victory over Sassuolo. Romelu Lukaku started and finished the six-goal festival with two sublime finishes, but the Nerazzurri also had luck by their side on their other two goals. On the other hand, the Neroverdi almost completed a memorable comeback, but eventually succumbed to the Belgian giant’s incredible strength. So here are our player ratings for Inter who overcame the resilient Sassuolo in a 4-2 win.

Inter (3-5-2)

Samir Handanovic – 6

The Inter captain pulled off some decent saves and wasn’t at fault for either Sassuolo goal.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6

The former Torino defender provided the assist for Lukaku’s first goal with a long pass, but perhaps could have done better to pick up Henrique’s run ahead of the first Sassuolo goal.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5

The Dutchman did well to nullify the threats of Gregoire Defrel and his replacement Andrea Pinamonti.

Raoul Bellanova – 6

The former Cagliari man was behind the play that caused Tressoldi’s own goal. However, he still has to improve his defensive game. Lost track of his marker ahead of Sassuolo’s second goal.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5

The benchwarmer showed his technical limitations on some occasions and should have done better to track Henrique’s run.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7

A masterful display from the Croatian midfielder who’s gradually regaining his best form. Picked up Lukaku with an exquisite assist for the fourth Inter goal.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6

The Armenian didn’t truly replicate his MVP heroics from midweek, but it was a convincing hour of play nonetheless before earning some well-deserved rest.

Federico Dimarco – 6.5

An impressive display from the Inter youth product who did well to limit Domenico Berardi’s threat on the right wing. Joined the attack on a few occasions and delivered a superb cross to Correa.

Joaquin Correa – 5

The former Lazio man only featured for the first 45 minutes, leaving his place for his compatriot Lautaro after failing to make an impact. Couldn’t direct an inviting cross goalwards with his head.

Romelu Lukaku – 8

The Belgian bomber is simply unstoppable at the moment. Overpowered Ruan Tressoldi before launching a scorcher that was too hot for Andrea Consigli to handle. When the visitors threatened to complete a comeback, the Chelsea loanee rose to the occasion and sealed the win with a clinical finish from an acute angle.

Substitutes

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5

Perhaps it wasn’t his most impressive cameo nor his best strike, but the deflection did the trick for the World Cup winner who scored his side’s third goal.

Kristjan Asllani – 5.5

The young Albanian should have done better against Frattesi who won the aerial duel to score Sassuolo’s second goal.

Robin Gosens – 6

The former Atalanta man wasted a good scoring opportunity with a wayward shot, but had a hand in the fourth goal which secured victory for Inter.

Alessandro Bastoni – N/A

Matteo Darmian – N/A
