Inter Plotting Midfield Exodus in January

Inter are looking to make some changes to their midfield and three underutilized players could be on their way out in January, as the executives are prioritizing the departures of Christian Eriksen, Radja Nainggolan and Matias Vecino at this time, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Calciomercato.com.

Eriksen joined the Beneamata last January on a cheap deal from Tottenham because he had an expiring contract, but he has struggled to find his footing in Serie A and a proper role under the demanding Antonio Conte. He has started just three times in the season, the last one dating back to October 31st, and featured for just ten minutes in the last seven fixtures combined. Inter are said to be open to let him go or involve him in swap deals.

Radja Nainggolan stayed at the club after a strong campaign at Cagliari, but he too been unable to find consistent playing time. He has logged five appearances off the bench for a total of 43 minutes, also missing some time because of COVID and a calf injury. Matias Vecino has been absent since late September as he underwent knee surgery to fix a problem that has been bothering him for a while and he is expected to return in January.

If all three left the club, the management would then switch their focus to signing another midfielder to join Marcelo Brozovic, Vidal, Barella, Roberto Gagliardini and the oft-injured Stefano Sensi in that position.
