Inter Preparing Formal Statements for Two Key Renewals

Inter have wrapped up the negotiations with Federico Dimarco and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and their extensions could be announced as soon as Friday, or by the end of the week at the latest, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via OneFootball).

The Armenian was the top priority for the brass since his contract was set to run out at the end of the season. He has remained a regular despite the acquisition of Davide Frattesi. He’ll sign a seasonal renewal with an option, confirming his current wages. The former Roma linchpin was reportedly starting to draw interest from Saudi Arabia.

Unlike Mkhitaryan, Dimarco will get a pay raise with his new Inter deal. His salary will go from €1.6M to €4M net. He had yet to be rewarded for his growth in the past two campaigns especially.

The wingback, who has 16 caps with Italy, is currently nursing a thigh problem. He has fended off the competition from newcomer Carlos Augusto. He has registered 3 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances so far.

Our Take on Inter, Dimarco, and Mkhitaryan

The former has long been due, while it’s interesting they aren’t messing around with the veteran even though they are openly chasing Piotr Zielinski. Their midfield will be properly stacked if they land the Napoli star too. On the other hand, one has to wonder whether they’ll eventually sacrifice somebody, because their payroll has swelled up in the past calendar year, and it’ll keep increasing with Lautaro Martinez’s upcoming extension.
