Inter Prioritizing Arsenal Fullback in Search for Hakimi Replacement

Finding a new starter on the right wing will be the first order of business for Inter. While they are working on multiple options, Hector Bellerin is their preferred target at this stage. They had some preliminary talks with Arsenal late in the week, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Gianluca Di Marzio reported.

Achraf Hakimi is set to finalize his move to PSG in the next couple of days. The two sides have agreed on the fee, which will be around €68/70M, including bonuses. The Moroccan star will travel to Paris for the medicals and other formalities later today.

Inter will reinvest only part of the money in a newcomer for the same role. The Italian newspaper believes the budget to be €10/15M, while it could increase next summer. They have approached the Gunners proposing a loan with an option or obligation to buy. They are willing to put up to €20M on the table in 2022.

Bellerin is seen as an ideal addition because he is in his prime and has international experience. Inter are confident he would recapture his pre-ACL tear form in Milan. His performances have dipped in the past two campaigns, where he featured 53 times.

The other candidates are on the back burner to see if the negotiation with Arsenal will be successful. Davide Zappacosta is a viable alternative after a strong season at Genoa, and he can play on both flanks. Manuel Lazzari would be optimal for Simone Inzaghi, but the price tag and Lazio president Claudio Lotito represent obstacles.
