Inter were once on the forefront of signing Dutch revelation Jurrien Timber, but his current evaluation after the World Cup in Qatar puts him far off the Nerazzurri’s pace. The versatile Ajax youth product appeared four times for Holland at the showdown event, garnering 390 minutes of game time over the course of the tournament.
As per latest reports from Corriere dello Sport (via FCInterNews), Inter scouts were on the trail of Timber a few years ago when he was still a teenager. However, a quick rise in his valuation has deemed the Nerazzurri outsiders in his transfer race – with a current transfermarkt value of €45M.
Reportedly, Inter regret missing out on cashing in on his services when he has still affordable and in line with the club’s finances.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is keen on reuniting with the 21-year-old at Old Trafford, but recent advances in the range of €25M was outright rejected by Ajax.
Timber spoke about his future in a recent interview to Dutch outlet Telegraaf.
“You can go to a big club. But if you’re not going to play there, it’s better to stay with Ajax. And Ajax is also a big club. I can still develop at Ajax, I’m 100% sure of that. I don’t feel like I’m done here, but I can also develop in other clubs.” (via FootMercato)
Timber made his senior debut in March 2020, before going on to feature regularly for the Dutch giants under Ten Hag.
