Inter Reject Second Chelsea Bid for Romelu Lukaku but Opening Exists

Chelsea made another attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku, but it was again unsuccessful. Inter turned down a package that featured a €100M fee and Marcos Alonso. The Nerazzurri have intention of selling their star striker, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The scenario could change only if Lukaku directly asked to leave. The striker has not entertained such possibility so far and has not caved even though Chelsea are offering him a considerably higher salary. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he does not want to return to the Premier League, where he felt he was not appreciated enough. He is much more comfortable in Milan and Serie A.

Lukaku already played at Chelsea at the beginning of his career, making 15 appearances between the 2011-2012 and the 2013-2014 seasons. The Blues will have to convince the player to join them to pull off the blockbuster deal. The son of owner Roman Abramovich reportedly met him directly recently.

Inter chased after Marcos Alonso at the beginning of the off-season. However, it looks like they are content moving forward with Ivan Perisic and Federico Dimarco as options on the left flank. Matteo Darmian and Aleksandar Kolarov can also feature there. They have not been linked to possible new additions in the role in the last few days.

The Nerazzurri want to keep the offensive duo that powered them to the title last season. However, they are under siege as also Lautaro Martinez is drawing a lot of interest. The will of the two forwards will be decisive in determining their future and the club’s strategies.
