Inter Rekindle Interest in Bundesliga Wing-Back

Inter are reportedly assessing the prospect of launching a last-ditch attempt to land Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic in the January transfer window. According to Calciomercato, head coach Simone Inzaghi is a big-time admirer of the Serbia international and is keen to bring him to the Giuseppe Meazza this winter.

Inter were heavily linked with a move for Kostic in the summer, but the deal fell through as they failed to find an agreement with Frankfurt. However, the Nerazzurri could make another attempt to sign the 29-year-old this month as Inzaghi looks to reinforce his options going into the business end of the season.

Inter are actively searching for a long-term replacement for Ivan Perisic, who seems to be on the verge of leaving the club. The Croat is in the final six months of his contract in Lombardy, with no signs of a breakthrough in extension talks on the horizon. But despite his contractual wobble, he has been one of Inzaghi’s most trusted allies this term.

Therefore, Inter are keen to find a suitable solution to fill the void once Perisic’s adventure at Meazza comes to a close. Kostic, who has gone from strength to strength at Frankfurt, appears to be featuring Beppe Marotta’s wishlist close to the top.

With less than two years left to run on his current deal at the Deutsche Bank Park, the Serbian star could be available for a reasonable price this winter. Kostic is understood to be eager to depart the Bundesliga for a lucrative bid abroad, with Inter now back in the running.

But the reigning Serie A champions are not alone in the race for the wing-back’s signature. Lazio are also interested in acquiring Kostic’s services, though Inter should have the upper hand due to their current status in Italian and European football.
