Inter and representatives of Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez will soon meet to discuss personal terms, with the move set to be completed soon. As per Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreInter), the Uruguayan is on the brink of joining the Nerazzurri on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next summer.
Inter are actively searching for a long-term replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who left the Giuseppe Meazza to join Paris Saint-Germain in a blockbuster deal earlier in July. Although PSV’s Denzel Dumfries and Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin long seemed to be the leading candidates to succeed the Moroccan, the reigning Serie A champions have identified Nandez as an ideal solution.
Cagliari are open to the idea of selling the 25-year-old outright, while Inter entertain the prospect of including a couple of players in the deal. Radja Nainggolan could serve as a makeweight following an impressive loan spell at the Sardegna Arena.
Nandez racked up 32 Serie A appearances last season, tallying two goals and three assists in the process. Known for his bursting runs down the right flank and quick movements between the lines, the Uruguay international could be a perfect replacement for Hakimi.
The ex-Boca Juniors has two years left to run on his current contract at Cagliari and will be available for a reasonable price this summer. Inter are operating on a tight budget, and Nandez’s price tag fits their spending capacity.
It’s still uncertain whether Nandez’s potential arrival would affect Inter’s pursuit of Bellerin. The Spaniard is keen to exit the Premier League in the summer and has already informed Arsenal of his desire to move to Italy.
