Inter Signing Klaassen from Ajax to Complete Midfield

Inter have found their midfielder, as they have sealed the deal to onboard Davy Klaassen, who emerged as the top candidate for the job on Friday. He’ll join on a permanent deal, but they won’t pay a fee, as Ajax will release him. He had a year on his contract, Fabrizio Romano reports.

He’ll ink a two-year deal with the Viale della Liberazione outfit. The 30-year-old can play either as a box-to-box or as a no.10. He’ll serve as the seventh option in their midfield. Stefano Sensi is currently expected to stay put too. Instead, Lucien Agoumé is on his way out despite some difficulties in finding a taker.

Inter will be the fourth team in the career of Klaassen. On top of Ajax, on two separate occasions, he also played for Werder Bremen and Everton.

The veteran has made over 321 appearances with the Dutch side, recording 93 goals and 50 assists. He scored once in four appearances, three of which off the bench, at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season. He starred in 46 fixtures in the previous one and has 41 caps and 10 goals with the Netherlands to his name.

Our Take on Inter and Klaassen

Nothing wrong with adding some experience for cheap, but he’s not much different than Henrikh Mkhitaryan. A very muscular midfielder would have been more suitable.
