Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni left the Atalanta game early due to minor muscular problems, but there’s not much worry at Inter.

Inter Stalwart in ‘Advanced Talks’ With European Powerhouse

Inter talisman Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly in advanced talks with Bayern Munich over a shock return to the Bundesliga. A story first broke by German outlet Bild received further confirmation from Turkish reporter Ibrahim Kirkayak, who spoke directly to the player in the build-up to Turkey’s Euro 2024 encounter against Portugal.

Calhanoglu allegedly confirmed he’s negotiating a switch to Bayern Munich despite his household status at Inter. At 30, the Turkish midfielder is at his peak power. He has been crucial to Simone Inzaghi’s set-up since swapping Milan for the Nerazzurri in 2021.

Inter signed Calhanoglu as a free agent as his contract with the Rossoneri ran out. As such, they’d make a substantial profit from his sale. Despite entering the fourth decade, the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star would still command a significant price tag.

Bayern Munich may need to allocate up to €50-60 million to persuade Inter to sell their midfield stalwart. There’s a feeling the club won’t stand in Calhanoglu’s way should he decide to end his seven-year spell in Serie A.

Calhanoglu joined Milan from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 but blew hot and cold during his stint at the San Siro. A move to Inter has been on the money, with Simone Inzaghi turning once an advanced midfielder into one of Europe’s finest deep-lying playmakers.

The dethroned Bundesliga champions are reportedly ready to offer the Inter man a lucrative fourth-year contract worth €8m per season plus add-ons. It’s hard to imagine Calhanoglu turning down such an eye-watering bid.
