Inter Star Hakan Calhanoglu Addresses Earlier Exit Talks

Inter star midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has finally opened up on rumors linking him with a switch to Bayern Munich earlier this summer. In an interview with Sky Sports, as reported by Calciomercato, the Turkey international rubbished speculation he tried to force his way out of Giuseppe Meazza.

Calhanoglu emerged as a genuine target for new Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany during EURO 2024. Press reports went as far as to claim the Inter stalwart went behind the club’s back to negotiate personal terms with the record-time Bundesliga champions.

However, the former Milan playmaker insists he never considered an Inter exit. Despite staying radio-silent during raging rumors surrounding his future in late June, Calhanoglu is adamant he never felt the urge to address the media talk.

Those who know me understand how I am. I always stay silent and don’t talk much,” the Inter talisman said. “I like to work and improve. I can say that in these three years, I’ve been fortunate to find incredible teammates and fans.

I’ve grown thanks to them. I never thought about leaving. I’ve always been sure of staying at Inter, even when rumors surfaced. I chose to focus on my work and only spoke up at the end to calm everyone down.

Calhanoglu was brilliant for Inter last season. He was among the headline performers as Simone Inzaghi’s side won their 20th Scudetto, netting 13 goals and delivering three assists in 32 Serie A appearances.
