Inter Star Plan B for Real Madrid If They Could Not Sign Erling Haaland

Real Madrid are trying to purchase Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund but are facing strenuous resistance. If their attempt were unsuccessful, they would target Lautaro Martinez next, transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà reported.

The Norwegian ace has already come to terms with the Merengues and is eager to move. However, the German side asks for €175M, despite the €75M release clause in 2022. Real Madrid are willing to offer a nine-digit sum, but not as much as the counterpart requests. They aim to add a star striker this summer. PSG previously stonewalled them in their chase of Kylian Mbappé.

Inter are currently planning to cash in only on Achraf Hakimi among their center-pieces. They are waiting for Chelsea and PSG to raise their bids. However, Martinez recently turned down an extension and is not 100 percent certain to stay. His price tag is €90M, and Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are keen on him as well.

His agent Alejandro Camano recently stated: “Everybody has a price, but the Nerazzurri are not considering selling him right now. We will see what the club will do as the transfer market progresses. They offered us a new contract, but we answered that we are fine with where we are at right now.”

Should Real Madrid miss out on their primary targets, Dominic Calvert-Lewin could become a viable option. He thrived under Carlo Ancelotti last season, bagging 16 goals in 33 Premier League matches. In addition, he would be considerably less expensive, as the Toffees value the forward around €50M, Marca informs.
