Inter Star Thuram Set to Miss at Least a Few Games

Marcus Thuram has been diagnosed with an adductor contracture following the early tests after subbing off versus Atletico Madrid. He experienced some discomfort near the end of the first half and was replaced by Marko Arnautovic at the interval.

According to Sky, the Nerazzurri are bracing for a multi-game absence. He’ll undergo more exams on Thursday. He’ll surely be out versus Lecce in the next round and against Atalanta in a make-up game next week.

Coach Simone Inzaghi dished on Thuram in his post-match remarks.

“He felt a pull in the adductor when he kicked the ball and was in pain. He’ll take some tests. We hope not to lose him for too much time.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the initial indication is that he avoided a lesion but suffered an elongation that could knock him out for 20 days. That would make him a close call for the return leg versus Atletico Madrid.

Marko Arnautovic had a rollercoaster of a performance off the bench, missing a pair of sitters but eventually bagging the game-winning goal. The Frenchman has played every fixture so far, coming off the bench just twice.

Our Take on Thuram

The timing is very unfortunate and almost jeering, as the backup strikers are the biggest weakness of their squad, but at least Arnautovic scored, avoiding a disastrous result since they had pulled the strings. Considering their lead in Serie A, they shouldn’t rush his return, if not for a tune-up, until the return match.
