Bayern Munich could be in the market for a striker since they didn’t replace Robert Lewandowski in the summer, and Lautaro Martinez has been mentioned as a potential target. The Argentine is tied to Inter until 2026.
Transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio addressed the rumors to the German publication Wettfreunde (via Calciomercato).
“I don’t think he’s the type of forward they need. They already have Sadio Mané, who’s somewhat similar. He’s not a no.9, and he has fared better when starring next to Romelu Lukaku or Edin Dzeko. Lautaro Martinez is surely a a top player, but I don’t believe he’s would be right for Bayern Munich.”
“In addition, I doubt he wants to move to Bundesliga or leave Inter altogether since he extended his contract not long ago. He’s very, very happy in Milan. I don’t think he wishes to depart, but it’s too early to tell what will happen in June. The rumors routinely start in every window, but the Argentine has shown remarkable loyalty to Inter, even in times when that wasn’t a given. He’ll probably spend a few more years with the Nerazzurri, and Spain does seem the most logical future landing spot for him.
On the other hand, given the Bavarian’s fluid frontline under Julian Nagelsmann, it would actually be interesting to see him in such a system since he’s not an old-fashioned marksman. It would probably work out just fine.
