Inter Star Wants to Stay and Extend as Agent Issues Veiled Warning

Lautaro Martinez is willing to commit to Inter, but he also needs to come to terms on his new contract. His representative Alejandro Camano confirmed that the parties would meet later this week. He elaborated on it in an interview to FCInterNews.

“We will have a summit with the management Wednesday. We will do everything possible to stay here. Lautaro is very comfortable in Milan, and he has a great relationship with his teammates and the new coach. He listened to few proposals, but he never seriously considered them. We believe Inter to still have life.”

On the wages: “He does not speak directly about money, just about football. His agent takes care of that aspect. At most, he tells me how much happy he is in this town and this club. I can say that the salary must be adapted to his new situation. We hope he will be their top striker now.”

On the offers from the Premier League: “He turned them down because he wants to win another Scudetto with Inter and have a good Champions League. He has no intention of leaving Italy right now. He believes in the Nerazzurri’s project.”

Martinez has been linked to Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and especially Tottenham in the summer window. He has two years left on his deal. According to Calciomercato.com, the management offered him €4.5M per year, while his representatives asked for €6.5/7M. A meeting probably will not be enough to make up the difference. However, there seems to be mutual desire to get the extension done.
