Inter are about to part ways with Valentin Carboni, but, considering the formula they are ironing out with Olympique Marseille, they’ll retain control of the player, even though that’ll cost them a pretty penny down the line.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the prodigy has accepted the destination. The two teams are working on a season-long loan with an option to buy, plus a further clause that would allow the Nerazzurri to bring him back. It’s fairly standard for youngsters, although the sums generally don’t reach these levels.
If the agreement doesn’t change, Olympique Marseille will have the faculty of redeeming Carboni for €36M next summer, but Inter will be able to counter and keep him spending a little more than that. The 19-year-old tallied 2 goals and 4 assists in 36 matches with Monza last season, his first one in the pros.
The Brianzoli might make a late run to try reuniting with him temporarily if he doesn’t move to France in short order, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Our Take on Carboni, Marseille, and Inter
After much speculation, they’ll take the most natural step in his progression, a loan to a bigger side. It’ll help him but won’t generate resources to foot their chase of Albert Gudmundsson. It’ll be a fascinating decision if he gets bought out, as, despite the incoming figure, it’d be quite the check for the Nerazzurri. That’s a matter for another day. A move back to Monza wouldn’t be too shabby either, as he’d be more of a technical leader without Andrea Colpani.
