Inter Staying in Touch with Sassuolo to Acquire Scamacca

Inter plan to make Gianluca Scamacca their prestige signing of the 2022 summer and are continuing to work on Sassuolo’s flanks. The top executives of the teams, Giuseppe Marotta and Giovanni Carnevali met multiple times after the end of the previous window, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Nerazzurri are eager to maintain their lead and prevent the price tag from spiking. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig attempted to sign him in the final days of January. However, the player wishes to stay in Serie A. Juventus pursued him too, but they are no longer in the picture.

Inter are willing to dole out €40M for Scamacca, although adopting the formula of a loan with obligation to buy. It should not be an issue since Sassuolo agreed to it for Manuel Locatelli. However, the Bianconeri had to negotiate at length to get the deal done, and that could very well be the case again. La Beneamata is also wary of the new FIFA’s new policy to limit temporary spells.

Besides Scamacca, Inter are keen on Davide Frattesi too, but the race for the midfielder is more open. The Sassuolo CEO confirmed that they would have to give 30 percent of the fee to Roma: “It is part of the original agreement we stipulated a few years back. They did not want to give him up, but we eventually came to terms.”

“We hope he continues playing like he is doing. He is proving to be a valuable contributor. We have received some requests, but it is important to evaluate his performance and give him time to grow for now. He still has a lot more to prove. We would like to keep everybody. However, our policy is to sell one linchpin per season to keep our finances in order.”
