Alessandro Bastoni was linked to an exit from Inter last season, especially with Tottenham Hotspur on his back, but he instead chose to stay put in the Nerazzurri colors. The Italian defender does not regret his decision despite several other top Premier League clubs, including the Manchester duo interested in luring him.

In an exclusive interview with Corriere dello Sport (via FCInterNews), Bastoni explained the approach by Antonio Conte’s Spurs last transfer window.

“There was some contact, but I’m happy I stayed at Inter.”

He then drew comparison between Conte, Roberto Mancini and Simone Inzaghi.

“With Conte, you entered the pitch knowing perfectly what you had to do, because everything had been meticulously studied. The other two are very similar in terms of how they prepare for matches, their attitude on the pitch and how they approach matches. players. In the sense that they are very calm and open to dialogue. I can add that, in terms of play, Inzaghi has given me a lot, because the propensity to push arm in arm was born right with him.”

Finally, the 23-year-old revealed that he performs the best in a three-man defensive line.

“Certainly, because I have the possibility to push myself forward, without having too much concern about what can happen if I make a mistake. I feel I have my back covered and I have more freedom.”

Bastoni is an integral part of Inzaghi’s squad, appearing regularly in the ex-Lazio manager’s starting eleven. He has 134 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
