Inter Superstar Continues Making Strides as Nerazzurri Run Riot

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez tightened the stranglehold on the Capocannoniere award with another Serie A goal as his side thrashed Udinese 4-0 on Saturday night. Simone Inzaghi’s team picked apart the troubled bottom-half underachievers to return to the table’s summit.

Little did anyone know Inter would put the game to bed at halftime as Udinese kept the scoreline intact until the 37th minute. However, Nerazzurri’s blitz proved too hot to handle for Gabriele Cioffi’s side. Goals from Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, and Marcus Thuram within seven minutes fired the hosts to a sailing halftime cushion.

Martinez put the icing on the cake with a thumping finish in the 84th minute, solidifying his position in the Serie A Golden Boot race. As the only player in Italy’s top flight to have hit a 10-goal barrier, the Argentine leads the scoring charts with 14 goals, six more than his closest follow Olivier Giroud of Milan.

Speaking to the press in the aftermath, the Inter superstar hailed the team’s effort.

It is certainly a great team, we work hard every day in training, you can see the influence of the coach, and we play with his ideas of football,” Martinez told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by TMW.

He went on to explain Inzaghi’s concept that has turned Inter into a dominant force in Serie A.

We press very high and that allows us to win the ball back quickly, create scoring opportunities and keep the opposition pinned back. The first half had a lot of intensity, we’re very pleased.”
