Inter Table Two-Year Extension for Dutchman De Vrij

Inter center-back Stefan De Vrij has been unable to jot down a contract extension so far, but that could very change in the coming weeks. The Nerazzurri will face a big blow if they lose De Vrij, with Milan Skriniar also approaching his contract expiry in June 2023.

According to Corriere della Sera (via FCInterNews), chief Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have put forth a two-year contract extension for the Dutch defender with an option to extend for a third possible season. However, the player is yet to respond to the offer that sees no rise or fall in the wages he currently earns.

Several top clubs, including Olympique de Marseille, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have been linked with De Vrij.

To be on the safer side, Inter have begun shortlisting names to add to their defense while negotiations with De Vrij and Skriniar are underway. Roma’s Chris Smalling and Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini are realistic targets as well for the Nerazzurri.
