Inter Take an Interest in Promising Argentine Wingback

Inter are concerned with Juan Cuadrado’s slow recovery from an Achilles tendon injury, and they have earmarked Agustin Giay for the position. He has featured in 40 matches this season after shaking off a major ankle sprain.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentine has a €6M price tag. His contract expires in 2025. The Nerazzurri are following him very closely. He has scored once in 34 Superliga appearances. The San Lorenzo product has appeared 13 times with Argentina U-20. He said that his models were Achraf Hakimi and Juan Cuadrado in an interview during last summer’s youth World Cup.

Inter deputy director Dario Baccin recently went on a trip to South America and, on top of scouting Giay and several more talents, he attended the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and Fluminense to take a close look at Valentin Barco.

On the other hand, the left-back has plenty of suitors already. Manchester City are reportedly in the lead to capture him.

Our Take on Inter and Giay

Cuadrado was clearly a short-term fix considering he signed a seasonal contract. He couldn’t even make it through the first half of the season healthy. If they don’t sell Dumfries next summer, and all indications are they won’t, they can go with a youngster to groom behind him. It wouldn’t be surprising if Tajon Buchanan resurfaced as an option.
