Inter Take Interest in RB Salzburg Touted Center-Back

Inter have set sights on a new talented center-back, Oumar Solet, to take over from Milan Skriniar. Torino and Milan have pursued him in the past, while the Nerazzurri ramped up their efforts once their linchpin officialized his departure, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The 23-year-old grew up in Laval’s youth academy and joined Olympique Lyonnais at a young age, but he didn’t manage to break into the first team. He transferred to RB Salzburg for €4.5M in 2020. He fully blossomed during his time in Austria.

Inter observed Solet with keen interest during four recent clashes with Serie A sides. His team met Milan and Roma in Europe. He fared decently, even though he subbed off early due to injury in both games versus the Rossoneri. He held his own especially in the home fixture against the capital side, where he blanketed Tammy Abraham.

He doesn’t have a lot of experience in a three-man defense but, despite his size, he’s agile enough to be a good fit. He has played in it in France and with his national team. Another con is that he has suffered multiple muscular problems in the last couple of seasons. His price tag is around €15M. The Nerazzurri would attempt to lower it should they decide to move for him. He’s under contract till 2025.

Our Take on Inter and Solet

The Nerazzurri should definitely add a veteran and a prospect of this ilk to rebuild their defense. However, Italian clubs have always struck out when they tried to buy players from RB Salzburg. They generally transfer to Leipzig once they have reached high enough levels.
