Inter Take Interest in Salernitana Dynamic Wingback

Inter could be in the market for a wingback in January, and they are keeping tabs on Pasquale Mazzocchi for the role. Robin Gosens will have some opportunities to turn his disappointing spell around before January. If it doesn’t happen, he could depart for a good offer, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

If it happened, the Nerazzurri would have a void to fill on the flank. The Salernitana star has proven he can feature and show well on either wing. They have been attached to a few options for the position. The veteran would probably be one of the cheapest ones.

Salernitana would like to keep Mazzocchi until the end of the season, but they might budge if the bid is proper. The club and the fullback were engaged in a contract standoff last summer. The Granata turned down €3M from Monza. They have agreed to a new deal afterward, and his price tag increased.

The 27-year-old has logged two goals and two assists thus far. He has earned the call-up by Roberto Mancini and debuted with the Azzurri on September 26th.

Our Take on Inter Eyeing Mazzocchi

It wouldn’t be the most alluring acquisition possible, but it would signal that they are all-in on Federico Dimarco. The prospective newcomer would be a fine backup, especially considering his highly-energetic style. Given the steady showings of their youth product, they could also sign a high-upside prospect and give him time to get acclimated. Or technically they might even do nothing, having Matteo Darmian as the deputy on either flank and giving more playing time to Raoul Bellanova. But the domino starts with Gosens’ departure, which isn’t easy to concoct without losing money.
