Inter to Face Stiff Competition from Serie A Rival for Ajax Shotstopper

Inter was the first Italian team to make their interest known for Ajax shotstopper Andre Onana, who is currently nearing the end of his nine-month doping ban and is set to move away from Amsterdam in the January transfer window as his contract expires in June 2022.

The Nerazzurri are eyeing a new goalkeeper who can potentially replace veteran captain Samir Handanovic, who is also set to leave at the end of the current season.

However, the Milan giants will be battling Napoli not only in the Scudetto race, but also in the transfer market – with the Partenopei also interested in the Cameroonian goalkeeper, according to reports from Calciomercato. Napoli reportedly are looking for David Ospina’s replacement.

The Ajax goalkeeper is back in training from the start of November, when his doping ban ends, and has already set his sights on a transfer abroad for a new playing opportunity. He is also on the books of Arsenal and Barcelona, where he spent a part of his youth career.

Onana was banned from professional sports after testing positive for Furosemide, a medication which is also a banned substance used for treating kidney and liver disease.
