Inter to Rekindle Interest in Bundesliga Forward

Inter could rekindle their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram at the end of the season. Per Tuttosport (via SempreInter), the defending Serie A champions are still interested in the highly sought-after Frenchman.

The Nerazzurri were keen on landing Thuram in the summer to replace Romelu Lukaku, who returned to Chelsea in a big-money move back in August. Inter eventually decided to take Edin Dzeko away from Roma, with the veteran striker going from strength to strength this season. However, at 35, the Bosnia & Herzegovina international is only a short-term option.

So the Italian heavyweights will have to dive back into the market at the end of the season to secure a more sustainable solution. Thuram is among the profiles seriously considered by Beppe Marotta following his illustrious spell at Gladbach. The 24-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2020/21 campaign, but he failed to impress this term.

Thuram has yet to get off the mark in the Bundesliga this season. Additionally, his current contract at Borussia-Park expires in summer 2023. The Frenchman has yet to commit his future to Gladbach, and the club may have to listen to offers at the end of the season to cash in on their prized asset.

The Germans could be dealing with a massive summer exodus, with a couple of first-team stars set to exit the club for free. Denis Zakaria and Mathias Ginter have refused to extend their contracts and will leave for free at the end of the season. In addition to Thuram, Inter are also assessing the prospect of signing Ginter on a Bosman deal.
