Inter to Revisit Old Target to Shore Up Their Attack

Inter chased after Marcus Thuram in the past, and they are ready to do it if he doesn’t prolong his expiring contract with Borussia Moenchengladbach. The Nerazzurri face plenty of uncertainty as far as their frontline is concerned.

As per SportMediaset (via Tuttomercatoweb), they have an agreement in place with Chelsea to prolong the loan spell of Romelu Lukaku. However, he will have to be healthier to stay. His seasonal stints don’t come cheap despite the formula.

Inter passed on Thuram in the recent past for a couple of reasons. He picked up a fairly significant knee injury while they were closing in on him. Plus, freshly appointed Simone Inzaghi preferred signing Joaquin Correa, who had done well with him at Lazio. El Tucu hasn’t been as impactful in Milan. He could leave for a good offer, but they acquired him for nearly €30M.

The contract of Edin Dzeko runs out at the end of the season as well. His chances to re-up are rapidly increasing. However, the future of Lukaku and the possibility of landing the Frenchman will also play a role in his possible confirmation. The 25-year-old is putting together a career season. He has scored 12 times and provided 4 assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.

Our Take on Inter Tracking Thuram

He was a worthy target in the past, and even more so now that he has taken a further leap and that he’s potentially available on a free. The Nerazzurri do love a bargain. They are right on schedule to pull off a Bosman transfer. However, they’ll probably have to outbid a few sides since his performances surely haven’t gone unnoticed.
