Inter to Revisit Previous Cagliari Target if Vidal Departs

Inter have not been satisfied with the recent performances of Arturo Vidal, and the parties could split in the summer. The midfielder has another year on his contract, but the front office is mulling over the situation. He did not fare well while filling in for Nicolò Barella in the two Liverpool clashes.

His level of performance has dipped after a decent start of the season. While he won a high number of tackles and duels, he turned the ball over 15 times and misplaced 13 passes in the two matches against the Reds, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. His only highlight was a goal-line clearance on a shot by Luis Diaz.

Vidal has played just an average of 35 minutes in his 31 seasonal appearances, and Inter are wondering whether that is enough to warrant his €6.5M wages. The management could release him by paying a €4M severance package. The Chilean international has suggested that his future could be in Brazil in social media post.

Inter could substitute Vidal with a younger midfielder in the same ilk such as Nahitan Nandez, Calciomercato.com informs. The 26-year-old once again stayed put in January despite an offer from Juventus. The Nerazzurri pursued him in the past but did not look for reinforcement in the area in the previous window. They will be in the mix again in the summer. He has a €35M release clause in his contract, but his price tag is set to be much lower, the site adds.
