Inter Touted to Have Put Forth Formal Bid for Scamacca

Inter have opened talks with West Ham to sign Gianluca Scamacca. His name lingered while they were prioritizing Folarin Balogun. Since the Arsenal prodigy might be too expensive, they have stepped it for the ex-Sassuolo striker. The Gunners demanded at least €50M.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri have lodged a €20/22M to acquire the marksman permanently. Roma have been trying to strike a deal to bring him in a loan with an option or conditioned obligation to buy, but the Irons rebuffed them.

Scamacca voiced his preference for the Giallorossi, but he’ll likely say yes to Inter as well, especially considering he’ll have the opportunity to play in the Champions League. The two clubs are negotiating the fee directly, the transfer market expert adds.

The English side paid €36M plus €6M add-ons for the 24-year-old last summer. Sassuolo are entitled to ten percent of the sum deriving from his sale. The forward didn’t live up to expectations in his first Premier League season. He dealt with a knee problem in the second half of it.

Our Take on Inter and Scamacca

Luring Balogun for €40M always seemed a bit optimistic. While the Italian no.9 isn’t worth as much because he’s three years older and coming off a subpar campaign, an agreement could be struck quickly after some haggling and a little raise.
