Inter Tracking Anderlecht Wing-Back as Perisic Talks Stall

Inter have set their sights on Anderlecht standout Sergio Gomez as the negotiation with Ivan Perisic has not progressed in the last couple of months. The contract of the current starter runs out in June. The parties have gone back and forth on the sums and length of the new agreement. The most recent inklings are not positive, SportMediaset informs.

The 21-year-old is a product of the Barcelona youth academy, but he left early. Borussia Dortmund poached him in 2018, but he did not break through in Germany. He established himself during a loan spell at Huesca, and then Anderlecht acquired him for €2M last year. The dynamic fullback has tallied 6 goals and provided 14 assists in 41 appearances thus far this season.

Inter have Sergio Gomez well-positioned in their shortlist to replace Perisic. According to the publication, the executives are willing to offer the veteran a two-year contract with €5M wages. Instead, the Croatian international wants €6M. The front office would even prefer just a seasonal deal with an option, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

In the event of a divorce, the Nerazzurri would target a youngster as Robin Gosens is expected to take over. They recently held a meeting for Genoa’s Andrea Cambiaso. Inter face competition from Ajax and Barcelona for Sergio Gomez, Fichajes reports. The Dutch club might have to replace Nicolas Tagliafico, while the Blaugrana are keen on bringing back their former canterano. The scouts of Manchester United and Chelsea also penned rave reviews about him, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
