Inter Tracking Atalanta Goalkeeper for Backup Duties

Inter took a flier on Emil Audero last summer, but he’s unlikely to be bought out, and they are keen on Juan Musso as a deputy goalie for the future. The Nerazzurri would need to spend €6.5M to redeem the Italia shot-stopper. He has appeared twice this campaign, conceding five goals.

According to TuttoSport, the Argentine will likely be on his way out after losing the starting job to Marco Carnesecchi. He held onto it in the early going. Then, the youngster took over, and he hasn’t played in the last eight Serie A games.

Inter were already interested in Musso in the summer. He would have probably joined had they acquired a starlet. They chased after Anatoliy Trubin but couldn’t seal the deal with Shakhtar Donetsk. They no longer needed a top-notch No.12 after signing a reliable veteran like Yann Sommer, who has rarely ever rested.

The Nerazzurri will likely need to disburse a sum equivalent to Audero’s clause to strike a deal with Atalanta.

Our Take on Inter and Musso

They surely like him, and he would be a fine choice. On the other hand, they’ll have to convince him that he’s a clear backup, and he’d be happier to do that in a big team, but that’s not so cut-and-dried. There’d be no shortage of experienced and cheaper goalie ready for such a job in Serie A. However, the best way to go would be a prodigy to groom for a year or two.
