Inter Trying to Beat Rivals for Empoli Starlet Asllani

Inter are about to accelerate the negotiation to acquire Kristjan Asllani from Empoli. Multiple teams are eyeing him. The Nerazzurri identified him as an ideal backup for Marcelo Brozovic. Milan and Newcastle represent the biggest threats in the race, but the player prefers staying in Italy, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

Giuseppe Marotta and the other directors will meet with the Empoli execs shortly to try sanctioning a deal. President Fabrizio Corsi admitted that it would be tough to keep the youngster (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It will be a challenge. We would have a shot if mid-table sides were after him as we could talk him into completing his growth here. However, when top Italian and foreign clubs come knocking, we can not compete with them from an economic standpoint. We have to get used to the idea that he will not be with us next season. We do not need multiple sales for the sake of our finances, but it will be difficult.”

According to the transfer market expert, Inter could offer €10M for Asllani, maybe through an initial loan or including a youngster in the package. Instead, Milan would be open to signing him and leaving him on loan to the Azzurri for another season.

Our Take on Inter Targeting Asllani

The 20-year-old has been brilliant in the second half of the recent campaign, showing as well as a rookie could possibly do in a tricky role in his first turn in Serie A. His upside is tremendous. Most clubs could use somebody with his traits. On the other hand, Asllani needs consistent playing time to hone in on his craft, and he might not get it at Inter. It might not be the wisest career move for him, but it would be tough to pass on such opportunity.
