Inter Vice-President Zanetti Confirms Colidio Departure

Inter youngster Facundo Colidio, who was once linked to a direct swap-like transfer for Italy international Mateo Retegui, is now inches away from sealing a move to River Plate.

Colidio spent last season on loan at Tigre alongside Retegui but is now on the verge of joining their Primera Division arch-rivals, as Nerazzurri vice-president Javier Zanetti confirmed in an exclusive interview with ESPN.

“He experienced an important moment of growth with us, he arrived and played for a year in the Primavera, then he played in Belgium and I think it did him good, he matured. Then he went to Tigre and felt important. And that’s why many clubs want him.

Zanetti disclosed the negotiations that took place with Boca Juniors before River Plate emerged in the spotlight to seal Colidio’s signature.

“Boca were interested, there was almost an agreement with us, but in the end it is the player who always decides. In the end, it is River. We are very close. For our part, we are almost there.”

Inter signed Colidio from the Boca Juniors academy in 2017 for €9.5M, after which he starred for the Nerazzurri Primavera. The 23-year-old will join Los Millonarios for almost half that price – €5M.
