Inter Wing-Back Turned Down Approach From Turkey

Inter wingback Ivan Perisic has reportedly turned down an offer to join an unnamed ‘major’ Turkish club amid his contractual uncertainty in Serie A. According to FCInterNews, the Croatia international has made it abundantly clear he is reluctant to move to the Turkish Super Lig.

Perisic has gone from strength to strength this season, establishing himself as one of the key cogs of Simone Inzaghi’s team. However, his deal at Inter will expire at the end of the season.

Perisic’s future in Serie A had long been up in the air, but Inter are now serious about keeping him for at least another year. Several clubs from the Premier League, including Manchester United, considered approaching the 33-year-old in January. Yet, he has stayed put and continued to impress.

Perisic has mustered five goals and four assists from 28 Serie A appearances despite operating as a left-back. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Inter are ready to offer him a new deal at the Giuseppe Meazza. As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the parties will discuss an extension in the coming weeks.

Inter signed Robin Gosens from Atalanta in the January transfer market. But the German left-back has struggled with injuries and has yet to record a league start under Inzaghi. Gosens’ fitness woes have handed more playing time for Perisic, who has not ceased to amaze.

There is a genuine feeling that the Croat will pledge his future to Inter. Perisic delivered two assists as the Nerazzurri eased past Hellas Verona 2-0 on Saturday to reignite their Scudetto bid.
