Robin Gosens started two matches in a row for the first time in ages and fared well in both. While he was reportedly on the brink of leaving in recent windows, he said he was committed to Inter talking to DAZN after the convincing victory over Lecce (via Calciomercato).
“We were ready today and showed our desire to win right form the get-go. It was a fundamental match considering the results of other teams. We thoroughly deserved to win. I’m fine and reached the level of form I was looking for. It was all-around great day.”
The San Siro crowd cheered for him once he subbed off late in the game.
“It was a wonderful feeling. I believe this was my first Serie A start at home. I’m happy for myself and for the team.”
Gosens hinted at the internal summits after the stumble against Bologna.
“We hashed things out and said that we must shut up and work hard. That’s they only way you can prevail in this league. The results are the product of the daily work.”
The ex-Atalanta star touched on the previous rumors about his departure.
“I want to suffer on the pitch without exiting and need this kind of consistency to grow. I only see Inter in my future.”

The Nerazzurri might have stumbled into a good situation as they surely tried to offload him in the past, but they never quite got the offer that would compensate for what they spent to get him. Federico Dimarco has been clearly better, but Simone Inzaghi’s lineup stubbornness and early lack of rotation didn’t allow the German to round into shape, which he sorely needed.
