Inter Wingback Still Believes in Their Comeback Chances

Federico Dimarco had his best showing since he became a regular at Inter in the romp of Bologna, hitting the net twice. He recently turned 25 and spoke with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It was a big emotion, but it wasn’t just a gift to me, but to the whole side. We won together and that’s all that matters. It’s fair for people to criticize us for losing five times. It’s too much, but there’s a lot of time left. Besides Napoli, which are in great shape, the other teams have been seesawing too. We are all bunched up together, but it seems that only Inter are in a crisis.”

The fullback believes Inter can still compete for the title.

“Juventus once recovered 11 points. We were at +8 over Milan last season, and we saw what happened. You never know in football. It won’t be easy, but I can say that we will give 100 percent to finish as high as possible.”

Dimarco was asked about which defeat was more hurtful.

“It pains me to say, but the loss to Milan was deserved, while the one versus Juventus wasn’t. We were controlling the game, and they surely didn’t dominate us. But we take ownership for it since it was also our fault.”

The defender commented on the Champions League draw.

Porto wasn’t the easiest opponent, because that doesn’t exist at this stage. It was surely the best we could pick, but we will have to face them as if they were Manchester City or Chelsea.”

Dimarco replied to a question about Milan Skriniar’s future.

“We talk about everything but that. He has proven on the pitch how important he is to us.”
