Inter are taking care of some high-profile extensions, but a less influential one is in the works too, as they are in talks with Yann Aurel Bisseck. The center-back has had a limited role this campaign but still impressed the management, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
The youngster is poised for a pay bump one way or another. His contract already envisages a clause to increase his wages from €750k annually to €1.2M once he reaches a certain threshold of appearances. He could achieve that before the end of the season. Though, if he didn’t, the team would be open to rewarding him anyway through a new deal.
Inter spent €7M to acquire Bisseck from Aarhus last summer. He has featured 18 times in his maiden Serie A season, scoring twice.
The Nerazzurri execs are verifying whether it’d be possible to keep taking advantage of the ‘Decreto Crescita’ to save on taxes while renewing his contract. While it has been suppressed, there might be some exceptions for players and teams that leaned on such an instrument in the past.
While its effect wouldn’t be major in his case as the sums are moderate, the turn of events could potentially affect the future of Denzel Dumfries. The club would be able to offer him higher wages.
Our Take on Inter and Bisseck
He’s arguably been underutilized this season considering that the Nerazzurri bowed out versus Atletico Madrid mostly due to tiredness. They could use a similar player on the other side of the defense too.
