Kristjan Asllani provided his contribution in Sunday’s victory versus Roma as he came off the bench earlier than usual after Hakan Calhanoglu was booked. He dished on his relationship with the star teammate after the game (via Calciomercato).
“He helps me in every practice. We have to continue rowing in the same direction, and we will reach our goals. I’m lucky to work with him. I watch and admire him. He’s one of the best in the world. He tells me I must improve defensively, and it’s true.”
Asllani disclosed that he could have left in the summer.
“There were some half-baked rumors before the start of the season. I talked with the club and perceived their belief in me, so I thought it was right to stay. I’m happy to play with my teammates. The matches with Albania are helping me. I used last year to grow and study. It’s a big thing to move from Empoli to Inter, and there was also Marcelo Brozovic on top of Calhanoglu beforehand. I’ve less competition, and the coach is trusting me more. I have to keep learning.”
Asllani commented on the victory.
“It’s tough to enter this kind of matches when they are nil-nil. I’m happy to have found Federico Dimarco before his assist to Marcus Thuram. We knew Roma would sit back, and we were good at keeping possession. I like to uncork long balls, and my teammates finalized. We all want to play, but we have a strong midfield.”
