Inter Prodigy Zanotti Departs on Loan to Swiss Outfit

Inter wingback Mattia Zanotti has joined Swiss Super League outfit St. Gallen on a season-long loan deal, after it became obvious that he would receive minimal playing time under coach Simone Inzaghi. He was also a part of the two-man list, including Giovanni Fabbian, shortlisted by Maurizio Sarri at Lazio to replace the permanent departure of Francesco Acerbi.

Inter confirmed the departure of the 20-year-old defender with an official press release. Zanotti will be contracted with St. Gallen until June 2024. The Nerazzurri Primavera product will spend the 2023/24 season with the Espen in a bid to develop and make a mark the campaign after at San Siro.

Zanotti has developed leaps and bounds in the Nerazzurri youth system, drawing the attention of clubs across Europe, including the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Lorient.

The aforementioned clubs were in the race to sign him this summer, but he has chosen St. Gallen instead to his boost his future prospects. Brescia-born Zanotti was part of the Italy U20 squad that finished runners-up in the FIFA U20 World Cup final, losing 1-0 to Uruguay.
