Inter’s Pursuit of Joaquin Correa Handed Huge Boost

Inter’s pursuit of Lazio’s star forward, Joaquin Correa, has reportedly received a massive boost in the shape of a price correction. As reported by Il Messaggero (via SempreInter), the Biancocelesti supremo Claudio Lotito has lowered his demands for the Argentina international amid Inter’s interest.

Correa has been heavily linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico over the past couple of months, with several domestic and foreign sides keeping close tabs on the 27-year-old.

After Paris Saint-Germain and a few Premier League clubs, Inter are now the front-runners to sign the Argentine. Romelu Lukaku’s big-money move to Chelsea has created an urge at the Giuseppe Meazza. The reigning Serie A holders are closing in on signing Edin Dzeko from Roma, but the 35-year-old may not be the only attacking addition.

Considering Dzeko’s age, Inter are exploring other options in the market, with Correa catching Beppe Marotta’s eye. In addition to the Nerazzurri CEO, Simone Inzaghi is also understandably poised to bring the ex-Sevilla forward to Lombardy, having coached him for four years in Rome.

Inter’s hopes of capturing Correa have grown exponentially after Claudio Lotito decided to drop the asking price. Although he had initially asked for €40m to sanction his standout performer’s departure, he is now willing to accept a bid in the region of €30m plus bonuses.

Inter were strapped for cash before allowing Lukaku to return to Chelsea in a staggering €115m deal. They now have the means and desire to inject fresh blood into their squad as they hope to retain domestic supremacy in 2021/22.

If the reports turn out to be valid, Correa could soon swap allegiances in Serie A and reunite with Inzaghi.
