Inter’s Pursuit of Alex Telles Hinges on Ivan Perisic Future

Inter’s pursuit of Manchester United’s Alex Telles has taken a backseat as they want to understand Ivan Perisic’s future first. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreInter), the Nerazzurri will make a decision on launching a bid for the Brazilian once they receive an update from the Croat.

The newly-crowned Serie A champions are on the lookout for a new left-back to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s side. Telles is one of the profiles seriously considered by Beppe Marotta as Inter hope to bring the 28-year-old back to the Giuseppe Meazza on another loan.

Telles spent an underwhelming loan spell at Inter back in 2015/16. He has since developed into one of the best left-backs in Europe with Porto, which earned him a big-money move to Old Trafford last summer. Although he arrived in the Premier League with high expectations, the ex-Galatasaray man was forced to play understudy to in-form Luke Shaw throughout this past season.

Despite his bit-part role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s set-up, Telles seemingly played a pivotal role in helping Shaw discover the form of his life. Additionally, he barely disappointed when being called into action, delivering pinpoint crosses and looking dangerous venturing forward.

Considering United paid €18million to take Telles away from Porto only last summer, it’s still to be seen whether they’d sanction his loan move now. However, Inter are enticed to believe the Red Devils are ready to negotiate the Brazilian’s temporary switch to Serie A.

Before making a move, though, the Nerazzurri want to understand Perisic’s intention. The 32-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of next season, with several sides taking an interest in his services. The Croatia international was one of Antonio Conte’s regulars last season, covering the left wing-back position along with Ashley Young.
