Simone Inzaghi is nearing the end of his tenure at Inter, as per Tuttosport (via FCInterNews). The ex-Lazio tactician’s future has reportedly already been decided upon by the Nerazzurri management, despite the fact that he could land a top-four finish and perhaps even the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy in June.
The Inter manager is on good terms with both Steven Zhang and Beppe Marotta, but with his contract expiring in 2024, no efforts have been made by the executives to prolong his stay. The veteran CEO has never started a season with a coach whose contract is a few months from expiring.

Inzaghi thinks he deserves the extension deal. However, the club reportedly wants to turn the page and hire a coach ‘who does not walk on a ledge’ when it comes to player transfers. Several bosses appear as candidates to succeed the Lazio icon – Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, Sergio Conceicao, or perhaps even Antonio Conte.
The 47-year-old recently became the third fastest gaffer to reach 500 points in Serie A during his managerial career in the Italian top flight, reaching the milestone in just 267 games. In the three-points-for-a-win era, only Maurizio Sarri (255) and Carlo Ancelotti (256) have achieved the feat in fewer matches.
