Simone Inzaghi addressed the key bout with Shakhtar Donetsk: “It will not be a deciding game yet, but it is very very important. They are a great team, brilliantly well-trained and with excellent players. We must have a good game, with the awareness that we did well versus Atalanta. I liked our reaction there a lot.”

On Roberto De Zerbi: “You can notice that he is trying to bring his own ideas, and he has been very capable because they are already visible after two months and a half. Obviously, he had to adapt to the great top-quality footballers they already had. They have had great results in recent years, they came close to reaching the Europa League final and did well in Champions too. They will surely attempt to give us fits tomorrow.”

Inzaghi commented the recent performances: “I wanted a squad ready to respond and play good football. I have seen that in the first six matches. Now I want more balance. We attack with a lot of men, but we probably have to look for less difficult solutions. At times, when you misplace easy passes, you concede very dangerous counters. We have run into some difficulties, but we have always come back. We have always managed to stay lucid and close in the score.”

Inzaghi concluded: “We are fundamentally an offensive team, which creates and lot and plays with width. In some tilts, if we err more than usual against sides that run a lot, we give up more chances. But we will ultimately always try to be proactive, as we are doing now.”
