Inzaghi Realistic About Inter Chances Against Liverpool

Inter are facing an uphill climb in the second leg of the Champions League clash with Liverpool, but Simone Inzaghi maintains some hope: “The result of the first match was penalizing to us, as we had a good performance. It will be hard, but we will go to Anfield with confidence and motivation.”

“It would be essential to score in the first half, but it will be very difficult. We prepared it in three days, and we are well aware of whom we are facing. They are one of the best teams in Europe alongside Manchester City and Bayern Munich. In addition, we will visit a tough stadium.”

Inzaghi would see some positive in the European campaign even if they were eliminated by Liverpool: “We had not reached the knockout stage in years. We thoroughly deserved to get to this point. The draw did not go well, and we knew the level of the opponents. We combated them to the best of our capabilities, and we will do the same tomorrow. It will be an opportunity to grow together because these matches are unique for the players and me.”

Ivan Perisic will be available after being a late scratch for the Salernitana game: “Everybody is fit, only Nicolò Barella will be missing due to disqualification. The result of the last tilt was pleasing, as we made it easy. Doing so required the right kind of mentality.”

Inzaghi was asked whether they would consider sparing some players for the following Serie A fixture if things were not going well against Liverpool: “We hope it does not come to that. We spent a ton of energies mentally and physically in the last few weeks. We will try to tackle this match properly, as it could be invigorating.”
