Inzaghi Talks Title Race, Doesn’t Choose Between Goals

Simone Inzaghi received the Premio Scopigno for his achievements with Inter last year and took stock of the first part of the season speaking with some journalists afterward (via Quotidiano Sportivo).

“Serie A is more balanced, as I said before the start of the campaign. Many teams got better and aim to compete with us. There are no easy games, and we will all try to give our best. They all say that winning is hard but that repeating is even more challenging. We’re trying to do that, but we have just started. Our goal is to work to improve every day.”

“When you are at Inter, you have to be competitive on all fronts despite the physical and mental toll. That’s the beautiful thing about football. Having the chance to play in the Champions League and fight for the title is fantastic.”

Inzaghi assessed Marcus Thuram’s injury.

“I heard from the doctors yesterday. It looks like he’s feeling better, but we’re a little worried. The France staff will visit him too. I hope he can recover quickly.”

The Inter coach didn’t shy away from the pressure.

“The burden is on every important club, and there are a few that are well-equipped. We have a strong management behind us and capable executives who worked well last summer too. We know our economic limitations, but the front office did great in the past three years.”

Inzaghi skirted the recent refereeing controversies.

“We all have to help them. It’s not easy to judge certain episodes. Luckily, there’s the VAR, which is an important instrument.”
