Inzaghi: “We Feel That We’ve Collected Less than We Deserved”

Ahead of Inter’s crucial fixture against Fiorentina Saturday evening at the Stadio San Siro, Simone Inzaghi spoke to InterTv about the difficult period that the Nerazzurri find themselves in.

As it stands, La Benemata are losing grip on the Scudetto as they have only managed to win one game out of their last five outings within the Serie A. Their lack-luster performances have caused Inzaghi side to drop points against Torino, Genoa, and Sassuolo, resulting in the Rossoneri take total control of the title race as they possess 63 points.

With Inter currently in third with 59 points and a game in hand, Inzaghi hopes that his men are able to snap out of this difficult period and overcome the difficult hurdle that lies ahead.

According to Tuttomercato, the former Lazio manager spoke about the significance of obtaining all three points against La Viola at the San Siro:Without a doubt right now we feel that we’ve collected less than we deserved but there is the right desire.

“In these days the guys have worked very well, there is a lot of desire to return to the pitch and we must do it with great intelligence and focus.

He touched on the importance of having more time to prepare for games now, following the end of their Champions League run.

“Having more days to prepare for the games certainly helps to work on situations that don’t go well and on certain details but it’s true that we are Inter.

“We’ve progressed in the Champions League, we’re still in the running in the Coppa Italia so the desire is to play often because it means we’ve been competitive throughout the year.”

In addition, the Italian tactician discussed about his sides impressive displays on the pitch despite their frustrating results: “I’d be more worried as a coach if I saw that the team wasn’t creating games and chances. It’s normal that we have to be good at directing the games in the right way, to make sure that the individual moments are on our side to try to control the game better.”

Moreover, the gaffer briefly mentioned how he expects the fixture against Italiano’s side will go: “We’ll face a healthy team that is doing well in the league, with a coach who has great ideas and gives a precise imprint to his teams.

“We’ve been working over the last few days to be ready, knowing that we’ll be up against an opponent of absolute value.”

Finally, Inzaghi expressed how he feels about the final six games of the Serie A being played at home: “The fans throughout the season have always been by our side, always numerous at home and away and our thought is to make them happy and proud to see their team on the pitch.”
