Italiano Ties Up Some Transfer Market Matters Before Fiorentina-Atalanta

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano spoke to the press before the Atalanta match: “We prepared the game with the guys that were here. The South Americans will be back tomorrow. It was surely something unusual. It is a complicated situation, and we will have to be quick and alert. We could have certainly used more time, but that goes for everybody.”

“Aleksandr Kokorin is the backup for Dusan Vlahovic. He is growing gradually and improving on playing with the back to the goal. If need be, we have other attackers that can feature in that area, like Nicolas Gonzalez. Ricardo Sottil is delighted to have stayed at Fiorentina and for the minutes we are giving to him. He can become an important player. I am sure the trust in our wingers will be repaid. They are all very good.”

On the newcomers: “Alvaro Odriozola has an incredible motor, as he can go up and down the field for 90 minutes with no issue. Clearly, he still needs to adapt. Lucas Torreira is adjusting to his new surroundings, but he has already played in big clubs like Arsenal and Atletico Madrid. He is very intelligent and can remedy his mistakes very quickly. He was a quality addition by the Fiorentina front office.”

“Matija Nastastic and Gaetano Gastrovilli picked up some knocks while with the national teams, but they recovered. I was very frank with Sofyan Amrabat. He is young, and therefore he can not possibly fit in just one system, that with two midfielders. He must learn and improve, as he is so strong and skilled. I will try to give him minutes. He was very happy to stay at Fiorentina.”
